In Conversation with Margo Meeuwissen: DeCarb-Pro’s Journey to the NWE Annual Event
What was the atmosphere at the event like, and how did it feel to represent our project there?
The event had a very relaxed atmosphere. Most of the current and potential project representatives were very open to network and for small talks about generalities and their projects. All projects have a relation with the future and with climate adaption or mitigation.
I really enjoyed representing our project.
What was the main message you shared about our project at the Interreg Annual Conference?
My main message is that
CO2-pricing in procurement is not so abstract as it looks like. That
CO2-pricing is about accounting the future into actual projects.
Procurement begins with a clear policy and integrating CO2-pricing concepts from the start of the project. This approach achieves the largest CO2 reduction.
How did the audience respond to your presentation, and were there any standout moments or discussions?
Most of the audience finds this a very important topic, are curious to understand the final results and would like to know more about applying this concept within their project.
Did you make any connections with other projects or stakeholders that could benefit our work?
I had some one-to-one talks and shared contact information directly to our partner of which this topic can be of interest. I also met a representative of the city of Dortmund that I connected with one of our project members. I also informed Amsterdam about a project focusing on re-use.
a) What key insights or ideas from the conference do you think we should consider for our project? OR b) Were there any insights or ideas from the conference that you think we should incorporate into our work moving forward?
Most of the projects are innovative but
more practical. Our project is more a concept, which will probably take
more time to get accepted and implemented.
Why are events like the Interreg Annual Conference important for projects like ours?
These
events are important to showcase our project, to share knowledge and to keep in
contact with other organisations working in Interreg NWE.
